1965 Macallan 17 Year Old

This 1965 Macallan aged for 17 years in sherry oak pre-dates the long running vintage 18 year old series, with 18 years only becoming the standard age statement from 1966 onwards.

This particular bottle was originally distributed in the early 1980s and on close inspection the name RINALDI is found printed at the bottom of the label which was the name of the Macallan distributor in Italy at that time. 

Italy was the world’s biggest importer of single malts during the 1970s and 1980s so rare bottles like this found today do often exhibit some historical Italian features.

A limited edition released around 1983.
